Delhi becomes the worldwide launch destination of Lufthansa’s Airbus A350-900, the world’s most modern and environmentally friendly long haul aircraft
The Lufthansa Group marks a key milestone in Indian aviation by bringing the most modern and environmentally friendly long haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, to Delhi. Starting February 11, 2017 India becomes the first destination worldwide to welcome the new aircraft and Lufthansa is the first airline to start commercial operation with this latest plane to India. In addition to increased capacity, the innovative new aircraft raises the benchmark on efficiency and travel comfort, reaffirming Lufthansa’s commitment to India. “With the A350-900, Lufthansa scripts a milestone in their fleet-strategy by entering the 2 liter fleet-category. This state-of-the-art aircraft marks a generational change on long-haul routes with 25% less fuel consumption, 25% less carbon dioxide emissions and 50% less noise”, says Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO Lufthansa Group.
During more than half a century of presence, Lufthansa has demonstrated on several occasions that India is an important strategic market for Lufthansa as a leading aviation group. “To meet the foreseen tremendous growth coming from this region, we bring our best product to India and emphasize that we want to further strengthen and underline the importance of India on the global map”, shared Carsten Spohr. By linking India to the world, Lufthansa Group supports the rapid globalization of India’s industry – brings in investor and tourists and connects the Indian leisure and business travelers to the whole world.
For the Lufthansa Group, 2017 marks the year of digitalization. Until 2020 the Group invests over 400 million Euros to create more individualized products and services to guarantee their guests a smooth travel experience. Lufthansa A350-900
The Lufthansa A350-900 is the world’s most state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly long-haul aircraft. In comparison with similar types of aircraft it consumes 25 percent less fuel and produces 25 percent fewer emissions. The noise footprint is up to 50 percent smaller than comparable aircraft models. The aircraft offers Lufthansa’s most modern on-board product, assuring passengers the highest level of comfort in all travel classes, with a wider cabin, self-service area in Business Class, new seats in Economy Class, bigger windows, large TV screens, innovative mood lighting, personalized playlist and much more. The Lufthansa A350-900 is configured to seat 293 passengers: 48 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 in Economy Class.
Worldwide debut for innovative lighting technology
Lufthansa is the first airline worldwide to use a range of different settings for the on-board lighting of the A350-900 which are designed to fit with the day and night-time biorhythms of the passengers by providing the right type of light at the right time. Lighting effects will also be used to emulate a pleasant restaurant atmosphere on board during mealtimes. Altogether, the new A350-900 LED technology can provide around 24 different lighting settings. Following on from the A350-900, Lufthansa will also be re-fitting its Boeing 747-800s with the new lighting system.
