Mumbai, 24th August ‘18: Designer extraordinaire Amit Aggarwal in association with NEXA showcased his collection and launched his menswear line on day 3 of Lakmé Fashion WeekWinter/Festive 2018. The collection drew visual inspiration from kinetic movements and energies, often interpreted through dynamic and vigorous composition of lines. The iconic ‘NEXA lines’, in its various forms and orientations also played a key influence in developing the aesthetic framework of the collection.
Effortlessly marrying culture with modernity, the collection incorporated new-age materials, new forms and patterns with incredible craftsmanship. Gorgeous vintage Phulkari restored using signature polymer details was combined with traditional Indian metallic embroidery techniques and contemporary intricate hand embellishment; the silhouettes of the collection have been designed using textiles that are undulate and frame the body—morphing them with sharply cut patterns and shapes. A monochromatic colour palette of arctic and pearl whites, granites, silver greys and radiant blacks meticulously came together to represent the sophistication inspired by NEXA.
Complementing the fantastical ensembles, the jewellery represented clean angular lines, geometric patterns and shapes. All the jewelry pieces, crafted using stunning metallic silver and grey colours, lent effortlessly to the collection’s colour palette.
Closing the show was not one but two Bollywood heartthrobs Shahid Kapoor and Disha Patani.
Shahid was seen sporting a sharp and sophisticated look, featuring handwoven mettalic tape with intricate hand embellishments, a new-age textile that was moulded to his body, thereby creating a modern silhouette for men.
On the other hand, Disha Patani wore a black metallic corded gown in organic patterns with intricate hand embellishments that complemented her stunning curves
.
Talking about his show stoppers Amit Aggarwal said, “I have always appreciated Shahid’s choice of movies and roles. He has transcended beautifully from a lover boy to a very serious actor like in Udta Punjab/ Haider; the flexibility of his roles is exactly what we look forward to in the Amit Aggarwal man—someone who is experimental, out there and who values his craft. Disha is modern young girl, youthful and full of energy; something what every young girl wants to be today.”
The beauty looks were created in sync with the futuristic ensembles. For female models, the makeup was glamorous—very rock inspired yet extremely modern. The hair was half structured and sculpted in the front. While the back was tied into a chic undone knot. For male models, the hair was sleek and gelled back making for a clean and structured look.
In congruence with the concept of the collection, the set was designed in a clean and crisp format, replete with LED installations that projected visuals. While models strutted on the ramp, Mosko a dance/electronic band comprising of Kavya Trehan and Moses Koul brought an eccentric energy through their music—combining the power and punch of arena rock with layers and textures of brooding electronic music.
