May 11, 2017: Fabindia’s signature summer offering – INDIGO is now in stores across India. Covering the complete garments range for men, women and kids to a variety of accessories, this annual promotion is a much-awaited event not only at Fabindia stores but also in locations across India where it is created by the craftspeople.
References to indigo can be found in a part of the textile history of many great civilizations. What makes Indigo Collection unique is that Fabindia continues to work with the authentic, centuries old dyeing process creating sustainable livelihood for the artisans linked to this craft.
Highlighting striking intensities of blue, the 2017 range covers both Indian and fusion wear – kurtas, tunics, skirts, tops, pants palazzos, dresses, sarees, dupattas, stoles, shirts and kurtas for men and an interesting collection for kids. Do watch out for a distinctive range of stoles showcasing new interpretations in patterns and motifs.
This season’s Indigo offering is inspired by the unique architecture of the Mysore Palace and historical sites of Srirangapatna, a town located on the outskirts of Mysore. The beautiful domes, striking visuals painted on teak wood have informed and inspired the design development that is the hallmark of this range.
Extending from techniques that include bold block prints, dabu and ajrakh to clamp dyes, tie and dye, kalamkari and shibori, this year’s collection covers a dramatic take on the traditional and contemporary offering. Beautiful surfaces have been created using “cracked “batik effects with dabu. Exploring exciting new design language and silhouettes, the collection focuses on creating a new aesthetic.
