Dr. Navnit Haror

It’s important to take good care of your skin after playing with colors during Holi. This skin care routine will help keep your skin healthy and free from any potential damage:

Here is a pre and post Holi skincare routine:

Pre-Holi Skincare:

  • Make sure to cleanse and exfoliate your skin well before Holi. This will help get rid of any impurities or dirt that might be on your skin and will also help in getting rid of dead skin cells.
  • Apply a good moisturizer all over your body, especially on dry areas such as elbows and knees.
  • Use a good lip balm to protect your lips from the harsh chemicals in Holi colors.
  • If you are using any kind of face paint or makeup, make sure to remove it completely before playing Holi.

After enjoying the colors and festivities of Holi, it’s important to take some time for post-Holi skin care.

Here are a few steps to follow:

  • Remove all the color from your skin using a gentle cleanser.
  • Apply a moisturizer to rehydrate your skin.
  • If you have any areas that are especially dry, apply a nourishing cream or oil.
  • Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins and help keep your skin healthy.
  • Take some time for yourself and relax after the busyness of Holi!

For dry skin:

There are a few things that can be done to restore the radiance of a person with dry skin after Holi.

  •  First, use a gentle, moisturizing soap or body wash when bathing. Avoid using harsh detergents or soaps, which can strip away natural oils and leave skin feeling dry and irritated.
  • Second, apply a thick moisturizer to the skin immediately after bathing while it is still damp. This will help seal in moisture and will provide long-lasting hydration.
  • Third, drink plenty of water throughout the day to replenish lost fluids and help restore the skin’s natural balance.
  • Finally, it is advised that the person eat healthy foods in order to get all of the nutrients their skin needs.

For oily skin:

If you have oily skin, use a gentle foaming face wash to cleanse your skin. If you have combination skin, use a light moisturizer after cleansing. Make sure to apply sunscreen before heading out to play with colors. Here is a skincare routine:

  • Start by cleansing your face with a gentle, non-comedogenic soap-free cleanser.
  • Tone your face with a gentle, alcohol-free toner.
  • Apply a light moisturizer that is oil-free and non-comedogenic.
  • Finish up by applying a mattifying sunscreen lotion with an SPF of 30 or higher.

For sensitive skin:

People with sensitive skin require some extra care. The reason for this is that their skin barrier is impaired and therefore they are more prone to skin irritations, dryness and redness.

One of the best ways to take care of sensitive skin is by using gentle cleansers. You should avoid using products that contain harsh chemicals or detergents, as these can strip the natural oils from your skin and lead to irritation. Instead, look for a soap-free cleanser that is designed for sensitive skin.

Some basic tips for taking care of sensitive skin include:

  • Using gentle, unscented soap
  • Avoiding over-the-counter acne treatments and other harsh products
  • Applying a moisturizer immediately after cleansing
  • Seeking out products specifically made for sensitive skin
  • Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day

Expert opinion on how to deal with post-Holi skin damage:#

It is important to take extra care of your skin to prevent any damage during Holi. And the best way to deal with post-Holi skin damage is:

  • Drink lots of water and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to help flush out toxins.
  • Apply a liberal amount of sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays.
  • Use a gentle cleanser to remove any excess color or debris from your skin.
  • Apply a moisturizer to help keep your skin hydrated.
  • If you experience any irritation or sensitivity, consult a dermatologist for further recommendations.

Here are a few kitchen products you can try to help heal your damaged skin after enjoying Holi:

  • Aloe Vera Gel: Apply fresh aloe vera gel directly to the skin. Aloe vera is a natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, and it helps promote healing
  • Turmeric Paste: Mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder with enough water to form a thick paste. Apply the paste to the affected area and leave it on for 15 minutes. Rinse it off with warm water and pat dry. Turmeric contains curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help promote healing.
  • Oatmeal Bath: Add 1 cup of uncooked oatmeal to a bathtub filled with warm water. Oats have anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to reduce redness and inflammation caused by chemical dyes or other skin irritants. Add one cup of ground oats to a bathtub filled with warm water, and soak in the tub for about 15 minutes.
